If you wish to play AAC audio (.M4A) and MPEG-4 or H.264 encoded video (.MP4 or .M4V) using Windows Media Player, you need to install third-party software. After you install this software, you will also be able to sync MPEG-4 audio and video to your iPod.

Note   Adding support for playing AAC audio and MPEG-4 video in Windows Media Player is not a feature of MGTEK dopisp. The procedure below is merely a guide that outlines what you need to do. If you have any problems with this procedure or the plug-ins, do not contact MGTEK for help. Please contact the makers of the respective plug-ins for help!

In order to play MPEG-4 audio and video in Windows Media Player you need:

There are several commercial vendors that offer these splitters and codecs. We do not make any recommendation on what codecs to use. Use your favorite search engine to find the required software. In order to display tag information embedded in MPEG-4 videos, you may want to install a tag extender, too.

We do not recommend installing codec packs as they are usually of poor quality and do permanent damage to your Windows installation.
