MGTEK dopisp displays the Codec Crash dialog when it detects a software problem with a codec.
Why is this dialog displayed?
This problem may occur under the following conditions:
- A broken audio or video codec, such as ‘lameacm.acm’, crashed during the processing of music or video.
Note Windows Media Player includes a MP3 audio codec that works; unfortunately, there are many software packages that replace the Windows MP3 codec with a broken one.
What can I do to fix this problem?
If the sync error dialog is displayed, try the following:
- Try to identify the broken audio or video codec and uninstall it. See the topic Windows Media Player crashes when I sync music or videos.
- Open the Windows Uninstall control panel applet and try to uninstall any software that may include broken audio or video codecs. Typically, these are not commercial but ‘free’ software packages, such as ‘K-Lite codec pack’, ‘Vista codec pack’, and many others.
- Reinstall MGTEK dopisp.
What can I do to avoid this problem in the future?
- Do not install codec packs that replace the Windows built-in MP3 audio codec.
