MGTEK dopisp - The ultimate iPod plug-in for Windows Media Player™

Does MGTEK dopisp support the new iPhone 3G S, or the new firmware OS 3.0?

Does MGTEK dopisp support the iPod touch/iPhone firmware OS 3.x?

MGTEK dopisp does not support the iPhone 3G S, or the iPod touch or iPhone with the OS 3.x firmware. See the System Requirements for more information.

Why does MGTEK dopisp not support OS 3.x?

The firmware OS3 is significantly different from earlier firmware version. Unfortunately, Apple does not disclose any information regarding the inner workings of the firmware, which makes it hard to implement. In addition, Apple uses techniques such as cryptography to prevent other applications from synching music to the iPod or iPhone, which slows down the reverse engineering that needs to happen.

Is MGTEK working on making dopisp compatible with OS 3.x?

We are working on this issue; however, we cannot make any commitment on when we will be able to provide a version that supports OS 3.x.

Is there a workaround to make MGTEK dopisp work with OS 3.x?

MGTEK dopisp V4.0.2092 is aware of the firmware OS 3.x, however, it is not enabled since it does not work out of the box. If you do not mind a rather annoying workaround, use the following procedures.

Note that this procedure is not supported. Use at your own risk.

Register your iPod touch/iPhone with firmware 3.x

  1. In Windows Media Player 11, click the Now Playing tab twice to open the pull-down menu, then point to Plug-ins and click Options.
  2. In Windows Media Player 12, click the menu Organize, then click Options and select the tab Plug-ins.
  3. From the list Category, select Background.
  4. From the list Background, select MGTEK dopisp and click Properties.
  5. On the tab Option, check the box Disable firmware version check.
  6. Restart Windows Media Player, register the iPod/iPhone with WMP, and restart again. Now your iPod/iPhone should appear in WMP.

Sync your iPod touch/iPhone with WMP

  1. In WMP, sync your music or videos to your iPod/iPhone. Note that the iPod/iPhone will not display the new content yet.
  2. Close WMP, and open Apple iTunes.
  3. In iTunes, modify the name (or any other item) of the iPod/iPhone, and wait till iTunes has finished its work. This causes the databases to be updated on your iPod/iPhone, and the music or videos should be visible on your iPod/iPhone.
  4. You need to use iTunes and repeat the previous steps every time you sync music with WMP.
