If you have ripped your CDs using a high-bitrate MP3 format, such as 256k or higher, you may want to convert the MP3 to a lower bitrate before you sync the MP3 to the iPod in order to save space on your iPod. You can configure MGTEK dopisp to convert high-bitrate MP3 files for you automatically. The conversion is performed as needed during sync, and does not affect your music library.

Note   Do not select a maximum quality level in the iPod properties dialog. This option is for native MTP devices, and will conflict with your iPod device.

Configure a MP3 bitrate limit

  1. In Windows Media Player 11, click the Now Playing tab twice to open the pull-down menu, then point to Plug-ins and click Options.
  2. In Windows Media Player 12, click the menu Organize, then click Options and select the tab Plug-ins.
  3. From the list Category, select Background.
  4. From the list Background, select MGTEK dopisp and click Properties.
  5. On the tab Conversion, check Re-encode MP3 files which exceed a bitrate limit, and choose an encoding bitrate and bitrate limit.
