Microsoft Word offers various methods of applying styles to text. To apply heading styles for creating new topics, you can use the Help Producer toolbar. To apply any style, use the built-in mechanism in Microsoft Word. Below you can find the procedure recommended by Microsoft.

Apply a style (Microsoft Word 2003)

Note   Depending on your version of Microsoft Word, the procedure for applying styles differs slightly. Please consult the Microsoft Word online manual for details.
  1. Select the words, paragraph, list, or table you want to change.
  2. If the Styles and Formatting task pane is not open, click Styles and Formatting Description: Styles and Formatting on the Formatting toolbar.
  3. Click the style you want in the Styles and Formatting task pane. If the style you want is not listed, click All Styles in the Show box.
