When you create a new help document, you can choose to create a new, blank Word document, or a Word document based on a template. Help Producer ships with the document template MSDN 2.0, which contains predefined styles that match the style mappings of the Help Producer themes.

Create a new, blank help document

  1. Start Microsoft Word. An empty document is created by default.
  2. On the Help Producer toolbar, click Configure Help Project Description: Configure Help Project.
  3. Select the Help system and the Theme you want to use.
  4. Click OK to save the project configuration to the Word document.
  5. Create one or more topic pages. For details, see the topic Working with Topics.

Create a new document based on a template

  1. Start Microsoft Word.
  2. On the File menu, click New.
  3. On Word 2002: From the New Document task pane, click General Templates.
  4. On Word 2003: From the New Document task pane, click On my computer.
  5. Select the Help Producer tab.
  6. Select the template you want to use.
  7. Click OK to create a new document.
  8. On the Help Producer toolbar, click Configure Help Project Description: Configure Help Project.
  9. Select the Help system and the Theme you want to use.
  10. Click OK to save the project configuration to the Word document.
  11. Create one or more topic pages. For details, see the topic Working with Topics.
