Help Producer will determine the most appropriate character encoding based on the help projects language. If you are creating a help file for a language that requires a special character encoding, you can set the character encoding manually.

Set the help project character encoding

  1. On the Help Producer toolbar, click Configure Help Project Description: Configure Help Project.
  2. In the tree view, select the category Filter, and select the tab General.
  3. From the combo box Encoding, select the character encoding of the HTML files. In most cases, you should select Automatic to have Help Producer select the most appropriate character encoding.
Note   The encoding types available depend on the help system you selected. Specifically, Microsoft HTML Help does not support Unicode or UTF-8, which forces you to use one of the codepages from the combo box list.
